FISH PRICE ORDER
POSTPONEMENT FOR MONTH Although it was the original intention of the Government to introduce an amended price order to date from yesterday controlling the sale of fish caught in Otago during the summer months, it has now been decided to postpone the operation of the new scale of prices until November. Advice to this effect was contained in information received yesterday from the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr D. G. Sullivan) by the president of the Dunedin and Suburban Fishmongers’ Association (Mr D. Minnock), following a telegram sent on Monday to the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) on behalf of the retailers protesting against the delay in bringing the amended order into operation, and threatening to close all shops until a satisfactory settlement was reached The retailers have accepted the decision to suspend the order, and in order to pave the way for an agreement over the new set of prices, their representatives are to consult members of the Price Tribunal, whose arrival in Dunedin from the north has been delayed because of troop movements.
