LONG BUSINESS CAREER

MR F. T. ANDERSON RETIRES - After having served the Otago branch of the Standard Insurance Company in Dunedin for the past 56 years, for 33 of which he has occupied the position of manager, Mr F. T. Anderson has retired. He spent the whole of his business career in the Dunedin office of the company. For the past 33 years he has represented his office on the' Otago and Southland Underwriters’ Association, and for three years during that period he was on the executive, holding ; the office of president for one year; He has also served various terms as the insurance representative on the Dunedin and Port Chalmers Fire Boards.

Yesterday afternoon Mr Anderson was met by the members of the Underwriters’ Association for the purpose of extending to him, and also to Mrs Anderson, best wishes for a happy retirement. Calder (formerly manager of the Phoenix Company), J. H. Duncan (Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co.), J. S. Little (secretary of the Dunedin Fire Board), W. W. Callender (manager of the Royal Exchange), and A. M. Cameron (manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company). Mr and Mrs Anderson will continue to live in DunThe chairman called attention to the fact that the function was a joint one, as Mr G. F. Parsonson, manger of the Norwich Union office in Dunedin, had received notice of his transfer to the Christchurch branch as manager there.
