OPENING TO-DAY
SESSION OF PARLIAMENT CONTENTIOUS QUESTIONS EARLY DEBATE LIKELY (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, June 26. After being in recess since the middle of last December, Parliament will assemble again to-morrow afternoon, with the official opening by the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall. By meeting at this time of the year, Parliament is reverting to the pre-war practice of beginning its sessions about the third week in June. To-morrow’s proceedings will be confined to the official opening ceremony and the transaction of formal business by the House of Representatives. An Imprest Supply Bill will be introduced on Thursday, and, in view of the wide latitude for debate that such a measure provides, it is expected that members will take this early opportunity to raise a number of questions of wide public interest, including man-power and the future role of the New Zealand Division, coal and electricity supplies, and the Governments action in appointing revision authorities to deal with the cases of military defaulters As urgency is always taken for an Imprest Supply Bill, a late sitting is generally anticipated. Tributes to legislators and former legislators who have died since the House was last in session will be taken on Friday, after which the House will adjourn until Wednesday of next week. The Address-m-Reply debate will be opened that night. A caucus of members of the Labour Party was held to-day, and one. will probably be held by the National Party later In the week.
