NEW TIGERCAT READY

FAST AND POWERFUL FIGHTER (Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 7. The Navy Department revealed that a new navy fighter, a twin-engined Grumman Tigercat, is ready for action. The number and size of the Tigercat’s guns are not announced, but. its firepower is capable of smashing a big Japanese bomber in a single burst. The Tigercat climbs faster than a mile a minute, and can carry a 40001 b bomb load, or a full-sized torpedo. It has a longer range than any other fighter. The Tigercat’s speed is a secret, but the Navy Department said it is very fast and very powerful. Built for the navy, Tigercats will for the first time be used by marines in land-based operations, but navy pilots will also fly them from large carriers.
