The High Commissioner in New Zealand for the United Kingdom, Sir Hirry Batterbee, and Lady Batterbee, who are shortly returning to Britain, were present, and were introduced by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron). Sir Harry, in a farewell speech, said he was very pleased to be present at the " sing,” and extended best wishes to the audience. Lady Batterbee expressed similar sentiments. i Mr J. F. i Himburg presented Lady Batterbee with a floral spray. Miss Moyra Meenan delighted the audience with a cornet solo, and she and Miss June Meenan also presented vocal duets and a duet with muted cornets. The community singing was again of a high standard.
