SHIPWRECK RELIEF
MEETING OF SOCIETY • A meeting of the executive "of the Shipwreck Society of New Zealand was held in the office of the secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson) yesterday afternoon, and was attended by Messrs Edgar Hazlett (chairman), G. F. Booth, S. G. Styche, j. Sutherland Ross, C. W. Sundstrum, G. F. McKellar, W. R. Clarke, and F. E. Tyson. The chairman welcomed Mr Ross, who represents the Navy League on tfte executive; Captain' L. Robertson wrote tendering his resignation from the executive in view of his transfer to Wellington, ■where he had been appointed superintendent of mercantile marine.—The resignation was accepted. The British Sailors’ Society, London, wrote thanking the executive for its donation of £100: Donations wsr4 received with thanks from the Otago Harbour Board (£lO 10s), the Napier Harbour Board (£10), the Lyttelton, Auckland, Greymouth, Wanganui, Wellington, Patea, Bluff, Oamaru, and Riverton Harbour Boards (£5 5s each), the Motueka Harbour Board (£5), the Hokitika Harbour Board (£2 2s), and the Waimakariri Harbour Board (£1 Is). The Timaru Harbour Board advised that, as the board’s amount of unauthorised expenditure was so low, it had been decided that no donations of any description would be made at any time.
