CAVERSHAM RATEPAYERS

QUARTERLY MEETING Mr W. A. Hudson presided over the quarterly general meeting of the CaverSham Ratepayers and Householders’ Association held on May 17. There was a good attendance of householders. Mr Hpdson. surveyed ,the work carried out by the association during the nine months of its existence and also outlined various matters which would require attention in the district in the near future. Taking into consideration the duration of the association’s activities, many improvements had already been carried out as the result of representations to the City Council and other bodies concerned, and residents should support the association in its efforts to improve one of the finest residential areas In the city. ' One matter of major Importance being dealt with by the association Is the acquisition of an area of land near the tram terminus for conversion into a slaying area which is badly needed In he district. Several representations have been made to the City Council and its decision is awaited. Many other' matters concerning improvements in the district were discussed and representations will be made to the proper quarter. A resolution was passed congratulating the association on the work it has done In improving amenities of the district. The chairman assured those presen* that the committee,lwould not relax dts efforts to serve the-resident?' of Caversham.
