OTAGO PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION The twenty-ninth annual report of the executive of the Otago Patriotic and General Welfare Association shows that from the commencement of operations in 1915 the sum of £219,708 11s 3d has been distributed by means of grants allowances, and advances to ex-soldiers and their dependents. “The committee has adhered to the policy of the association," the report, continues, “ that every case must be considered on its merits, and that the possibility of an early depletion of funds should not be taken into consideration when dealing with the reasonable needs of applicants who are otherwise eligible for help. “ The co-ordination of the work of the old and the new patriotic committees in the one office continues to be satisfactory. Each organisation,” the report says, “ retains control of its own affairs and the joint occupancy of the office and the use of the same staff, under the control of an office management committee representative of both bodies., provide for smooth working and an equitable apportionment of the office expenses.”
