AMERICAN CARRIERS
BUILDING BEHIND SCHEDULE (Rec. 9 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 21 Vice-admiral S. M. Robinson, Chief of Naval Procurement, in an appeal to shipbuilders to redouble their efforts to turn out more aircraft carriers, said some carriers at present under construction were behind schedule because of the man-power shortage. The largest carriers now being built are the 45,000-tonners Midway, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and' Coral Sea. The others are Boxer, Crown Point, Kearsarge, Oriskany, Princeton, Lake Champlain, Tarawa, Valley Forge, and Philippine Sea. Admiral Robinson added: “ It is evident as the fleet moves closer to Japan that more carriers will be needed to' launch offensive blows. The navy at present has 26 carriers,
