Ministerial Mr Adam Hamilton. Minister in Charge of War Expenditure in the War Cabinet, was a passenger for Wellington by the through express yesterday morning. Mr Richard Hudson left for Christchurch yesterday morning. Mr Mark Silverstone left yesterday morning for Wellington to attend a meeting of directors of the Reserve Bank. Messrs F. A. Charlton, M.A., and R. W. MacMillan, 8.A., have been appointed to teaching positions on the staff of the King’s High School, and will take up their duties early next month. They have both been on overseas service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Mr Sydney Greenbie, special assistant to the American Minister in New Zealand (Mr K. S. Patton) arrived from Invercargill yesterday morning. He was met by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) and the vice-president of the Otago-Southland Manufacturers' Association (Mr J. A. Scouler). In the afternoon he was the guest of the Mayor at afternoon tea, and in the evening he addressed members of the Otago-Southland Manufacturers’ Association on the subject of ” World Trade.” Mr Greenbie will leave for the north this morning. It was announced at the monthly meeting of the Board of Managers of the King Edward Technical College yesterday that the acting principal, Mr W. Alexander, had been given a temporary appointment as an inspector of technical schools. The chairman (Mr J. J. Marlow), in wishing Mr Alexander every success on behalf of the board, said that he had been on the staff of the Dunedin Technical School for 35 years, and his valuable work for the school was held in the highest esteem by the board. Mr Alexander thanked the chairman and the board for the sentiments expressed. Passengers who left for the north by air yesterday were Mr A. S. Cookson for Christchurch, Mr A. W. Jeavons, Mr G. W. Lane, Mr G. Benson, Mr R. J. Lamb, Mr H. Firth, Mr G. Ramsay, and Mr R. Sinclair for Wellington, Mr H. Belcher and Miss E. Wilson for Auckland. Passengers who arrived from the north by the afternoon plane were Mr and Mrs A. Ennis and Mr J. Foote from Auckland, Mrs J. C. Fogarty from Wellington, Mr W. Pinfold, Mrs C. M. Pinfold, Mr F. McDonald, and Mr Johanson from Christchurch.
