SOVIETISM AND NAZISM

Sir,—ln reply to your correspondent, “ Truth,” I did not say that the Soviet system is a “ benevolent one I said Russia is attempting to build a new civilisation upon the broadest foundation of democracy yet devised by man. Every system of government is autocratic wnen it is fighting, or preparing to fight, for its existence; and to cry “ autocracy from the pharasaical heights of plutocracy at a nation that has done and suffered so much for real democracy is—well, not helpful to anv good cause; nor is the attempt to couple its name, in the moment of victory over Nazism, with the name of that atrocious regime. Such emanations might have been expected from quite another source. Sovietism, in my humble opinion, is the spearhead in 'the march of the people of the world towards, social victory; and the social /credit movement, in, the form oi an auxiliary partisan force, is heading the same way, though some of its leading ipembers do not admit the fact, and though certain prominent figures in other lands would appear to have used its Popular appeal in diversionist directions. The march may be long and arduous, with manv reverses, and to reach the goal will require the co-operation of all ranks. Those auxiliaries who may be inclined to distrust the front-rank fighters might well pause to consider how far their doubts are due to divisive tactics of the enemy in the rear.—l am, etc.. F. R. «•
