GRADUALLY IMPROVING Forecast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—The depression now east of the Dominion is slowly moving away, and there is an anti-cyclone in the Western Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m.—Fresh southwesterly winds, slowly moderating; weather cold and changeable, with further showers, but fair periods increasing, especially inland. Further Outlook.—Fair. Weather in Dunedin.—The heaviest fall of rain experienced in Dunedin for a number of yearst occurred on Saturday, when a total of 5.22 in was recorded for the 24 hours ended at midnight. The rain was accompanied by a light southwest bteeze and fairly low' temperatures. Conditions improved rapidly yesterday, and, although the sky remained neavuy overcast, temperatures were mild, and there was a light south-west breeze. The barometer fell on Saturday morning, but after mid-day commenced to rise again, and at midnight last night stood at 29.95 in (1014 millibars).
