Sir,—The Cargill tunnel through the cliffs mentioned by your correspondents was not in connection with Cargill’s Castle, the home of Mr E. B. Cargill, but was the work of his brother, Mr John Cargill, whose homestead was much closer to the tunnel. The object of the work was to allow the family of John Cargill access to a beach.
