STORM ON WEST COAST
INTERRUPTION OF SERVICES (P.A.) GREYMOUTH, Apl. 26. A south-westerly gale this morning caused a disruption of electrical and telegraphic services and a stoppage of power, rendering idle three State coal mines. . The rainfall was .over an inch, making the year’s total so far 45 inches. The power failure disorganised the railway service, the automatic signal system being unable to function. Telegraphic communication was disorganised owing to breaks in the wires due to falling trees. No serious local damage has been reported.
