NEW TYPE OF BRIDGE
MADE OF ALUMINIUM NEW YORK. Apl. 6. The United States Engineers' Office. Detroit, announces that a new type of portable aluminium bridge, weighing only 54 tons and capable of spanning a river up to 436 feet wide is new in production for the battlefronls of the world. The bridge, known as M 4, was developed by the Army Engineers Corps to expedite the transport of military traffic after an assault boat crossing. It can be dismantled and transported to now crossings when a permanent bridge has been constructed.
