OFFICERS’ CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS

The annual meeting of members of the Otago Officers’ Club was held last night, Major L. A. Rhodes presiding over a good attendance.

The adoption of the annual report and balance sheet was moved by the president, who said that, thanks to the untiring work of the Executive Committee and the support of members, the club had experienced a satisfactory year. The club’s premises had been improved, and better facilities had been provided for members, and, although the year’s operations had shown a net profit of £6O, it was desirable that the club’s finances should be strengthened still further in order that adequate amenities .might be provided when the club’s membership increased.

The motion was seconded by Colonel J. G. Jeffery, who said that it was important that the club should be run in such a way that officers of the services would be encouraged to join it when they returned from overseas. He thanked the area commander, Colonel S. M. Satterthwaite, for the keen interest that he and his staff had taken in the affairs of the club, and congratulated the president on the success of the year's operations. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Captain J. H. A. McKeefry;'vicepresident, Lieutenant-colonel E. J. Anderson; honorary secretary, Lieutenant H.
