OBITUARY

MRS W. G. STRONACH

The death occurred at Auckland recently of Mrs W. G. Stronach, widow of the late Mr William Stronach, who was manager of the Mount Pisa Station, near Cromwell, for a number of years. Mr Stronach was a brother of Mr ponald Stronach, one of the founders of tne firm of Messrs Donald Stronach and Son, later Stronach, Morris, and Co., Ltd. Mr William Stronach, after retiring from Mount Pisa Station, acquired an interest in a coal mine. He died about 45 years ago as the result of an accident at the mine. For the past 20 years Mrs Stronach has been living at Castor Bay, Auckland.

LONDON. Mar. 24. The death has occurred of Baron Rochdale. He was aged 79 years.

MONSIGNOR HAYDEN

(Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Mar. 26. The death has occurred of Monsignor Thomas Hayden, one of the most eminent scholars and theologians in the Catholic Church in Australia; aged 81. He was a native of Ossory. Eire, and was ordained in Rome in 1889. For 40 years, he was on the staff of St. Patrick’s College, Sydney, being responsible for the theological education of hundreds of Australian priests. He retired from the presidency of the college In 1930. The late Archbishop William Hayden, of Tasmania, was a brother.
