IMPORT LICENSING

Advice has been received by the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce of a number of recent decisions respecting the import licensing schedule. The items affected are linoleum, tartaric acid, dried peaches from South Africa, women’s fully fashioned rayon hosiery from the United States, maizena and cornflour, and wire metal.

Scott Bros., produce merchants and commission agents, registered egg and onion merchants, report:—Eggs: As from March 26 Dunedin area selling values are—Heavy 2s 7d, standard 2s sd, and medium 2s 3d. pullets' Is 9d. Pay-out values for consignments received for week ended March 23 will be—Heavy 2s 6d, standard 2s 4d. and medium 2s lid. Butter: We are licensed to handle consignments. Value Is Id to Is 2d per lb. Poultry: Light condition Is 3d to 2s each, medium condition hens 2s 3d to 2s 9d each. Heavy breeds 3s 6d to 4s each, geese 4s to 5s each, turkeys Is 6d to Is 9d per lb, live weight, ducks 2s 6d to 3s 6d each. Potatoes: King Edward £8 5s and Whites £7 15s. f.0.b., s.i., nearest port. Whole fowl wheat 27s per sack. Chaff: Prime oaten sheaf £7 15s per ton, ex truck, bags extra. £8 IQs ex stot-e. Whole maize: Unprocurable. Oyster grit 6s 6'd per 1001 b bag. Straw: Small stocks of both oaten and to arrive. Onions: Canterbury 17s per cwt. Lucerne cnaff 7s 6d per naek. Wc stock cliickfoods, gristed barley 22s per 1501 b. oyster grit. Whole barley, suitable poultry'. 5s 9d per bushel, sacks extra. We supply fowl crates. Poultry should arrive by Wednesday in each week. Egg payments weekly.—March 19, 1945.
