LISHEEN OUT OF ACTION

GREAT COON’S MISSION

(Special) INVERCARGILL, Mar. 26. B. Mears will ride Auctor in the Waiau Steeplechase and T. J. Boyle will be on Double Light. D. Dawson will ride Music Hall and Air Chief. J. A. Rowland stated this morning that present intentions were to start Great Coon in the Riverton Cup in preference to the open mile. W, F. Ellis will ride Benbecula, Aurora Australis, Kiilarney, Sunny Course, and Inscrutable on Saturday. W. Hillis will be on Filibeg and Heidelberg. Besides Signal Officer A. Messervey will be on Salad and probably Green Note. At Invercargill this morning Heidelberg was schooled over eight of the steeplechase fences and Filibeg accomplished a similar task. Both acquitted themselves well, Filibeg in particular reaching out in good style. It is likely that A. E. Didham will ride both Royal Flight and Bonny Flight in their Riverton engagements. Fuzzy Wuzzy’s only engagement at Riverton is the Champion Hack Handicap on the second day. He is none the worse for his Trentham trip. It was intended to-day to make the final payment for Signal Officer in the Riverton Cup and a decision will be made later whether or not he will fulfil his engagement. . Lisheen was not at the tracks this morning and it appears fairly definite he will not be raced at Riverton at Easter. The trouble is in a fetlock. Sunny Course is unlikely to be produced in the Southern Champion Hack Handicap on the second day at Riverton. He is engaged in both hack prints on Saturday, but no decision has yet been made as to which he will start in, although it is possible he will contest the Longwood Hack Handicap.
