ATROCITIES BY JAPANESE MADRID, Mar. 23.

The official Spanish News Agency, reporting on Japanese atrocities against Spanish nationals in the Philippines, says that at least 162 were murdered, including 50 monks. Women and children taking refuge in the Spanish Consulate in Manila were bayonetted to death. Eighty per cent, of Spanish property was destroyed. The Spanish Foreign Minister announced that Spain had sent a strong Note of protest and demanding indemnity. He added that Spain had ceased to represent Japanese interests in countries with which Japan is at war.
