AIRBORNE TROOPS

LEGITIMATE MILITARY FORCE WARNING TO GERMANS (Rec. 8.30 p.in.) LONDON, Mar. 24. Supreme Headquarters to-night issued a solemn warning to officers and soldiers of the Wehrmaclit and Waffen S.S. in connection with the order from Hitler issued in 1942 and supplemented last October calling for the execution of Allied air-borne and parachute troops. The message states: “Germans may come into contact with Allied airborne troops and they are solemnly reminded that such troops are not terrorists, but soldiers carrying out legitimate miliary tasks. The execution of airborne or paratroops operating in uniform is entirely contrary to the accepted rules and practices of war. All persons—officers, other ranks or civilians—implicated in issuing or carrying out the Fuhrer’s orders, or any similar orders, will be held to strict account and punished according to their deserts. The excuse of having carried out orders will not be considered valid."
