COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF APPOINTED

(Rec. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 24. Mr Duncan Sandys, in the House of Commons, announced that General Sir Frederick Pile, the 61-year-old chief of Anti-aircraft Command, who organised the defences of London, has been appointed commander-in-chief of temporary housing. General Pile will be in charge of the production, transport. and erection of temporary houses which are now being produced at a rate of 300 weekly.
