SMOKE OBSCURES VIEW (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Mat. 23.

Five motor vehicles were involved in a series of collisions when smoke from a grass fire in vacant sections obscured visibility on the Great North road opposite Chamberlain Park: Western Springs, about 4.30 p.m. to T day. Two people were injured, one of them seriously. They were; Robert Smith, driver, aged 34, of New Lynn, head injuries. His condition is serious.

John Goddard, mechanic, aged 29, of New Lynn, injuries to face. He was treated at the Auckland Hospital and discharged.
