MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by Messrs J. Young (president). S. P. Cameron, A. C. Begg, W. H. Elliott, C. T. McCallum. W. Lee, John Hellyer, J. R. Fairbairn. B. S. Irwin. R. T. Kirk. J. Fox, A. H. Templeton. W. S. Thomson, and R. D. Stewart. Accounts amounting to £348 Is lid were passed for payment, the batik balance being in credit £56 3s 7d and outstanding cheques amounting to £125 11s 3d.

A draft copy of the annual report was approved, and the balance sheet as submitted with depreciation written off the Crawford street buildings was left to the treasurer and secretary to complete. The date of the annual meeting was arranged for Friday, June 1, the day of the opening of the Winter Show.

The Grounds and Buildings Committee reported on the progress of the replacement of the horse boxes at Tahuna and on huts that it was suggested should be purchased from the Army Department. A report was received of the bacon pig competition held at Burnside in conjunction with the Otago and Southland District Pig Council. It was noted that entries for the Burnside ram fair, to be held next Wednesday, were 1068, compared with 965 last year, and replies were received from Messrs Crawford King, W. A. Yardley, and George Ross agreeing to,act as inspectors. Sub-committees in charge of the various sections submitted .reports for the revision of the Winter Show schedule, and the suggested alterations and additions were all approved. Donations of special prizes by firms and individuals were received with thanks, the president expressing appreciation of the continued support of these donors. There was a general discussion on matters connected with the show, and arrangements made for special attractions in addition to the competitive classes.

It was noted that remits were required at an early date for the annual conference of the Royal Agricultural Society, and these were referred to the delegates attending the meeting of the Southern District Council who were also instructed to apply for Wednesday, November 21, as the date for the Dunedin Metropolitan Summer Show to be held at Tahuna Park.
