FORCE OF SUPER-FORTRESSES

A correspondent at Twentieth Bomber Command headquarters in India says the principal targets were supply dumps on Lake Victoria and in the Mingaldon cantonment. The results were reported “good to excellent” with fires and explosions in the dump areas. Both the anti-aircraft fire and fighter opposition were meagre, and all the planes returned safely. Our troops are firmly established in the southern part of the town. In Northern Burma Chinese troops are now 25 miles southeast of Lashio, on the Lashio-HsipaV road. Three enemy aircraft were de stroyed and barracks and revetmentr strafed during fighter sweeps ovei Tavoy and Moulmein.
