WORK RESUMED

THE MAKAREWA BUTCHERS (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Mar. 22. Killing at Makarewa Freezing Works, which was “suspended yesterday following' an Auckland report which the slaughtermen contended meant that the agreement reached in January on retrospective payments oi wage increases was not now in force, was resumed this morning, the men being assured that the agreement was still in force. At Mataura yesterday work began at the usual time, but a meeting was held at the 10 o’clock “smoko,” work being resumed at 10.25. Another stopwork meeting was held after lunch, but work was resumed at 2.10 p.m. Work at Mataura proceeds as usual today.
