Mr and Mrs John Morgan, of Port Chalmers, have received advice that their son Leading Aircraftman John Falconer Morgan, has received his 'commission as » sub-lieutenant in the Fleet Air Arm. Marlow) said that Mr Field had been a member of the staff for 20 years, and had accepted an appointment with the Auckland Education Board at the Avondale Technical ■ School. Lawson that he would retire from the clialr of education at the end of the current year, as he had reached the age limit, was received with regret at the monthly meeting of the Otago University Council yesterday afternoon. The chancellor, the Very Re'v. D. C. Herron, said that Professor Lawson had rendered very real service to the University and the cause of education generally, and had also taken a large part in tile executive work of the college. At a special meeting of the Presbytery of Dunedin yesterday a call was received from the congregation of St.-'Stephen’s Church, Waikiwl. Invercargill, to the Rev. T. M. McDonald, M.A., of Green Island. The call was sustained and accepted bv Mr McDonald, and the Rev. W. H. West, of Brighton, was appointed interim moderator of the Green Island charge. Ml' McDonald, who was formerly at Waiwera. has been minister at the Green Island Church for the past five years and a-half. A motion of sympathy with the Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser, in the death or Mrs Fraser, was passed at the monthly meeting of the Otago University Council yesterday afternoon. The chancellor, the very Rev. D. C. Herron, said that Mr Fraser had been a good friend to' the council and the University when he was Minister of Education, and also after he became Prime Minister, and the council s sympathy was extended to him in his sorrow. - - ..
