A MOTOR CAMP AT BRIGHTON

isf of as ’l cam Plng motorattitude3o J h ,i ‘ to uphold Mr Breen’s fnnru™ whlch was definitely against mam S mL CamP at Brighton. There are S ’ m? reasons against the proposal, of . the nunor ones being that the to v!fnd tOO C p° P fh ( and to ° much exposed thr. V hJl d ’i, that no matter how safe the beach may be Central Otago people to derive much benefit, since p ross winds would make the bathing beach a most unpleasant spot. Had this scheme been mooted perhaps when petrol restrictions first came in, it might have had a limited patronage lor the war years, but now that the conflict in the European theatre Is approaching a crisis and the petrol restrictions may consequently be soon eased, it seems to be something pertaining to a joke to suggest building a camp 10 miles out from Dunedin. All motorists, or at least the big majority, see freedom ahead. For years the highways and byeways have been in the discard. Now we have our maps out for a refresher course, studying the route to Queenstown, the hinterland. Oamaru, Caroline Bay, etc., etc.

Such being our objeefive, there will no longer be such a scramble for lettable cribs near Dunedin; competition for them as in the past five years will be eliminated; rents of such cribs wili be more moderate; and if any of Central Otago motorists want to visit the seaside this will give them their opportunity without good money being spent on a suggested camp that would not be in the right environment and is definitely not wanted. —I am, etc., Zephyr.
