ROCKET BOMBS
LONDON UNPERTURBED SPITFIRES ATTACK SITES (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 17. It can now be revealed' that V2 Rocket bombs have been dropping in London since the first announcement of their operation. Although some of the casualties announced monthly have occurred in the London area, there nas been no disclocation of the capital's life nor has the damage justified the expenditure of time, materials, labour and money in sending over the weapon. Londoners go about their daily and nightly routine, often hearing the explosions, but attendances at kinemas and theatres have not declined and crowds at sporting events are bigger than ever since the tutbreak of the war. The crowds at football games, particularly cup • matches, have reached almost pre-war figures. There was recently an attendance of '29,000 at one match while another game four miles away had an attendance of 20,000.
Spitfires raced against cloud masses which were closing in on their target when further attacks were made on Netherlands V-2 rocket objectives in daylight on Saturday. Stretches of rail tracks were cut, rail and road junctions bombed, and direct hits were scored on rail bridges and V-2 objectives over a wide area. The bombing was followed up by cannon attacks.
