TRIBUTE TO PAPAKAIO RESIDENT
On Thursday night a social evening will be tendered to Mr David Borrie in appreciation of his long and valued services to the district. Mr Borrie is one of the oldest residents of tPapakaio. For 50 years he has taken a prominent part in the activities of the community. He has filled all the offices, including chairman, of the Papakaio Library Committee, and has been chairman of the Papakaio Patriotic Committee, Red Cross, Church Committee, Ploughing Match Committee, Cemetery Trust, Hall Committee, and chairman and secretary many times of the School Committee. He is a member of the executive of the North Otago Farmers’ Union, and is a justice of the peace. During the last war he was awarded the Military Medal.
