SERVICE APPEALS SITTING OF No. XI BOARD The No. XI Armed Forces Appeal Board held a sitting yesterday. Mr W. R. Clarke presided, and associated with him were Messrs W. N. Satterthwaite and D. T. Vorley. The secretary (Mr W. J. Blackler) represented the Crown. Eighteen cases were set down for hearing, 11 being applications for release from camp - or extension of leave. Sine die adjournments were given in appeals by the Hume Pipe Company, Ltd., for O. G. Morgan (works manager,), and McLeod Bros., Ltd., for E. E. Mercer (soap factory worker). Release from camp was recommended in appeals by R. C. Cotton, own appeal; Mrs D. B. Carmichael for D. B. Carmichael; and J. Sharp (motor driver), own appeal. Indefinite extension of leave was recommended in applications by W. E. C. Reid and Co. for A. D. McGregor (accountant), and by H. E. Shacklock, Ltd., for E. Powell (range fitter). The following applications for release from- camp were declined: —Mrs A. Foote for E. R. Foote (shift miller); Cook, Lemon and Cook for N. W. Allan (solicitor); Mrs E. Steel for R. E. Steel; and Stuart and Son for J. Stuart (cabinet-maker). An application by A. J. Souter for extension of leave for L. B. Betts (carpenter) was declined. In an appeal by James Mulholland for J. Mulholland (carrier), a reboard was recommended, the case, then to. be reviewed by the board. The following appeals were dismissed:— John McGlashan College for D. G. A. Cassells (teacher). As from March 31. — Dunedin Corporation Transport and A. Crowe for A. Crowe (motor mechanic). As from April 30.—Para Rubber Company for W. N. McVicar (shop assistant) In appeals by Mrs M. SOUTHLAND BOARD SITTING AT MILTON A sitting of the Southland Armed Forces ppeal Board was held at Milton on hursday, when a large number of appeals ere heard. All the reservists were grade men. The members of the board were: [essrs E. H. Murney (chairman), D. W. talker and W. K. Cameron, with Mr G. eid as secretary.
