LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP The second annual tournament for the Dunedin Ladies’ Golf Championship was commenced at the St. Clair golf links yesterday, when the two qualifying rounds of the senior and junior title events were played. The Teams’ Handicap Trophy Match was won by the St. Clair No. 2 team, with a score of 475. During the day Mrs N. Allan (St. Clair) holed in one at the short fifth, Stop Gap. The first rounds of the Senior and Junior Championships will be played to-day. The first rounds of the Senior and Junior Consolation Matches, followed by the Australian Stableford, will also be played. The two best gross scores in the qualifying rounds of the Senior Championship were returned by Mrs H. Lawless (Otago), 177, and the two best net scores were obtained by Mrs A. H. Boyd (Otago), 149. The best senior net score in the first qualifying round resulted in a tie between Mrs Salisbury (Queen’s Park) 90—14 —76, and Mrs Joblin (St. Clair), 92—16 —76. Mrs Salisbury won on the count back over the last nine holes. The junior prize for the best net score in the first qualifying round was won by Miss Olive Allan (Otago) 98—24—74.
