The fact that the New Zealand mile pacing record for a two-year-old stands to the credit of Walter Moore, 2mln 10 4-ssec. and the mile trotting record for the same age is held by Todd Lonzia, 2min 22 2-ssec, emphasises the sensational character of the speed shown by a two-year-old trotter named Titan Hanover in the United States. This colt Is credited with a mile trial against time of 2min. A pacer of the same age, Jimmy Creed, has established a record of 2min Oisec. Countless has been reassessed to marks of 2min 12sec for a mile, -2min 45sec for a mile and a-quarter, and 4min 24sec for two miles. Happy Man is now on 2min llsec, 2min 44sec and 4mln 2"sec, and has qualified for present New Zealand Cup class. Clockwork's marks are now 2min 12sec, 2min 45sec, and 4min 27sec. Pacing Power, for his Ashburton Cup success, came back 12yds to 4min 23sec for two miles. The trotter Blue Horizon has come' -back to line 36, which is only one 'line slower than Royal Worthy's present assessment.. Blue Horizon's marks are 3min 23sec for a mile and a-half. 3min 41sec for a mile and five furlongs, and 4min 32sec for two miles, and Royal Worthy is on 3min 22sec. 3min 40sec, and 4min 31sec. Considering the number of his failures, no horse has been more consistently backed than Flying Scott. He was favourite in a field of 17 for the Introductory Handicap at the New Brighton Club’s meeting in October, but finished out of a place. At Forbury Park, on December 2, he was favourite on the win machine in a field of 13 for the Artillery Handicap, and broke badly in the first two furlongs. On the first day of the Canterbury Park Club's recent meeting he started third favourite, and ruined his chance bv breaking in the first furlong, and on the second day he was sixth favourite for the Progressive Handicap, and failed badly after holding a prominent position for a mile and three-quarters.
