SOCIALS TO SOLDIERS
Private David McCulloch was the guest at a complimentary social and dance held recently at Ngapara. Mr Paterson, chairman of the Ngapara Patriotic Committee, on behalf of the residents, made a presentation of a fountain pen, and Mrs Rapson, on behalf of the Ngapara branch of the Red Cross, handed the guest a parcel of comforts. He also received a parcel from the North Otago Patriotic Committee. Items were contributed by Messrs Blanchard, Blair, and Dunlop, and dance music was supplied by Mr J. Elliott. Mr T. Watson was the M.C. The Otiake Hall was well filled for a complimentary social held in honour of Private George Russell. Mr T. McGimpsey. on behalf of the district, extended a welcome to the guest and Mr W. McKay made a suitable presentation. Mr D. A. Small, of the Upper Waitaki R.S.A., also conveyed best wishes. Dance music was supplied by Jackson's orchestra.
