MIDDLE EAST PROBLEMS

TESTING GROUND FOR UNITED NATIONS RUGBY, Jan. 3. Sir James Grigg, at a press conference to-day, gave a brief outline of the work awaiting him as Minister Resident in the Middle East, states a Cairo correspondent. He described the Middle East as a testing ground for many of the problems confronting the United Nations, and said the solutions found would help the Allies elsewhere. Three problems of major importance in the Middle East were civil aviation, development of oil, and Palestine. Sir James did not discuss the first two, but he said that the Palestine problem, while generally regarded as between Jew and Arftb, was also Christian, as there were Christians in Palestine.
