LABOUR AND EDUCATION POLICY
Sir,—Your correspondent “Labourite’ would have us believe that Mr A. B. ! Grant is an Atheist, Communist, and that he wormed his way into the Labour-move-ment. Well, those statements are '.contrary to fact. Grant has been .an. active member of the Labour Party for over twenty years, and it may be, of interest to “Labourite” to know that Grant’s father was one of several ’ men who attended a meeting in a township on the West Coast, where It was decided, to form the New Zealand Labour Party. I do not think “Labourite’s” connection with the movement will go back that far. “ Labourite ” - states that Labour supporters must not'. let the likes of Grant ride on their backs. Sir, they have been riding on the backs of the Grants for many years, and I know that members of that family suffered victimisation and were denied the right of a job on many occasions for fighting for many of the privileges which “ Labourite ” enjoys today. A. B. Grant is not an Atheist, but practises the true Christianity by endeavouring to do whatever possible to improve the lot of his fellowmen. —I am, etc., Craigellachie. Milburn. December .12.
