CADET RIFLE SHOOTING
PRESS CHALLENGE SHIELDS (Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 13. The results of the annual secondary school cadet rifle shooting competition for challenge shields presented by the Christchurch Press i Company, Ltd., have been announced by the Army Department, • which has conducted the competition since 1917. The highest score this year has been gained by a North Island team from the Huntly District High School, which obtained an average score of 85.3 points and won the North Island shield and a cash prize of £lO. The score was 44 points more than the score which won the competition last year. The South Island shield was won by the Christ’s College team with an average of 85.2 points. Eighty-one teams entered for the competition. Seventy-seven returned average scores of 60 points or over, and 44 returned 70 points or over.
