Farewell Social.—An enjoyable function was held in the Mca Creek Hall on Friday evening, when occasion was taken to say farewell to Mr and Mrs L. Tilbury and family, who are shortly leaving the district, For many years. Mr Tilbury conducted the well-known Moa Creek Hotel and general store, and he recently disposed of his business. Mr J. Stuart, on behalf of the residents, asked Mr and Mrs Tilbury to accept a presentation of a cheque, together with best wishes from the district, mentioning the many activities of the guests during their long stay at Moa Creek. A presentation on behalf of the local Gun Club was also made to Mr Tilbury, while Mrs Tilbury was handed a suitable memento in recognition of her interest in the local library. The two Misses Tilbury also received gifts. In reply, Mr Tilbury returned thanks for the many expressions of goodwill not only that evening, but during their residence at Moa Creek, where they had made many friends. Vincent Jockey Club. —The sale of privileges in connection with the annual race meeting of the Vincent Jockey Club took place at Omakau on Friday afternoon, and attracted keen competition from a number of bidders, very satisfactory prices being realised. The successful tenderers were as follows:—Licensed booth, Mr W. L. Mtlne; luncheon booth, Mrs A. Moran; fruit stall, Mr D, A. Gridgeman. The Management Committee of the club subsequently held a meeting, and a number of matters relative fo the forthcoming fixture were completed. Satisfaction was expressed at the excellent condition of the track and the club’s property as a result of the recent beneficial rains. Personal.—Mr E. R. UndriJl, formerly of the Christchurch branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has taken up duty at the local branch of the bank. Mr B. Prisk, who Has been feting in a relieving capacity for some weeks, has returned to the Dunedin branch.—Mr A. J. Mayne, of the Omakau Post Office staff, has received advice that he has been transferred to Palmerston as telegraphist. ,
