THE OCEAN BEACH TRAGEDY

Sir, —Your report of the above is in several instances not accurate, and in justice to the survivors a statement giving tlie facts should be published. No advice of any kind was given by any of the members of the St. Kilda Surf Club and your statement that we set out in defiance of the advice of several experienced members is absolutely incorrect. Moreover, there was no intention to go to St. Clair, but unfortunately the strong current caught the canoe and carried it further out and in the direction of St. Clair. X take the opportunity to* thank all those engaged in my rescue, also my companions, in helping me after we abandoned the canoe.—l am, etc., 802 Princes street. Joyce Matheson.
