LATE SIR WALTER STRINGER
BENCH AND BAR PAY TRIBUTE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 12. Bench and Bar to-day paid a tribute to the memory of Sir Walter Stringer. Eulogising Sir Walter’s qualities as an eminent advocate and judge, and as a great gentleman, the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, said it was so many years since Sir Walter retired from the Bench.:,'thatytolmany he was little more than a; name, but those who knew him would, share the deep regret that members of the Bench felt at his death. As a judge Sir Walter Stringer displayed infinite fairness and impartiality and a courtly urbanity—qualities which gained him the respect, esteem, qnd admiration of the public as well as of the profession. He had left memories of which his family might well be proud. , , •■i'., • ,The Attorney-general; Mr H. G. R. Mason, and Mr H. F. 'O’Leary. K.C., president of the New Zealapd Law Society, associated all members of the profession with tribute.
