(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 12. The trainers have started to send their horses along in strong work in preparation for holiday racing. There were some useful gallops this morning without any serious trials. „ ~ On the trial grass Night Believer ran seven furlongs in lmin 32 2-ssec, Lex following in lmin 32 4-ssec. St. Joachim and Dash o' Dink went well over half a mile in 49 l-ssec, Competitor taking 49 4-ssec, Princess Anne 50sec and Scottish Lad 50sec. . , . , _ Lord Advocate covered six furlongs on the plough in lmin 16 4-ssec, Double Cross and Rout doing five in lmin 3 3-ssec. Foxhaven and Chicago ran their last half mile in 52sec. Foxlegp finished her useful work with three furlongs in 38scc, Justitia following in 40sec. . ... Kindergarten and Golden Souvenir did pace work on the plough. This pair will leave to-night, under the care of L. J. Ellis, on their way to Waikoualti, where they will finish their preparation for Wlngatul engagements. C. C. McCarthy will go there next week. Pensacola and Essay will leave to-night on their wav to Auckland. G. Ridgway will go north to-morrow night with Dash o’ Dink, who will race at Otakl on Saturday, while he wfil remain for the holiday •"eetings et Manawatu and Walrarapa.
