BOOKMAKERS HEAVILY FINED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 23.

In the Police Court to-day Sydney Eddowes was fined £IOO for using his premises as a common gaming house. The police stated that he was apparently in a big way of business, and had been before the court on two previous occasions for a breach of the Gaming Act, the last occasion in 1939. William John McCrae, who admitted a similar offence, was fined £76. The police stated that he also appeared to be in the business in a big way.
