WILD LIFE CONTROL
PROPOSALS FOR RESEARCH Proposals for co-ordinated research and the administration of wild life control made in a report by Dr G. Archey, of Auckland, were brought by the Auckland Society before the North Island Acclimatisation Societies’ Council at its annual meeting in Wellington.
The proposals were not considered in detail, but were referred to individual societies, so that they may consider them. Their delegates will attend a further meeting of the council not later than February 28. The South Island Council is to be asked to take similar action.
The president (Mr F. E. McKenzie, Auckland) urged the desirability of putting forward a scheme acceptable to the societies before other control was instituted. The need for scientific research was shown by the mistakes that had been made in the importation of game in the past. The societies, he added, were now in a financial position to embark on a scheme.
