TRAFALGAR DAY

As Trafalgar Day this year will fall today' a Saturday, the annual celebrations at the Waitaki Boys’ High School were held in the Hall of Memories yesterday. The programme consisted of appropriate organ selections, vocal items by the school, including “Hearts of Oak,’ and two addresses emphasising the significance of the day. The addresses were given bv H. M. Shearer and W. S. Fyfe, two of'the school prefects, the former speaking on “The Battle' of Trafalgar” and the latter on “The Memory of NelS °Mr W. Kinder, chairman of the Board of Governors, presented the medals and .certificates won in the Royal Empire Society’s 1943 essay competition, and gave a short address on the educational value of such school functions.
