OBITUARY

The death occurred at the Balclutha Hospital on Thursday last, at the age of 80 years, of one of the eai'ly residents of Kaitangata in the person of Mrs .Isabella Gadsby. With her parents, Mr and Mrs Bickerstaff, she arrived in New Zealand when only four years of age. The family took up residence In Dunedin, where Mrs Gadsby was educated. She married her husband 60 years ago, tmd they went to live in Kaitangata, -where she spent the rest of her life. Her husband predeceased her two years ago. Of a kindly and friendly disposition, Mrs Gadsby was a prime favourite with all who knew her. She leaves a family of three sons and four daughters. The death has occurred at Wellington of Mrs Robert Collings Tennent, who was in her ninety-first year. Mrs Tennent, who was a daughter of the late Dr Leqnard Boor, of Wellington and Nelson, arrived in Wellington in 1856 with her father, who practised his profession in the Hutt Valley and in Wellington, and in the severities became medical superintendent of the Nelson Hospital, where he remained till his death. Mrs Tennent was married in Nelson. Her husband was in the service of the Bank of New South Wales, and they lived, among other places, in Patea, Wanganui, Auckland, Blenheim, Timaru, Dunedin, ‘ and Invercargill. Mr Tennent died five years ago. There are five sons still living—Major L. C. Tennent (Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia), Mr H. D. Tennent (Dunedin), Mr H. C. Tennent (Honolulu), Mr K. B. Tennent (Nelson), and Colonel A. A. Tennent (Wellington). Another son, Mr R. V. Tennent, died in 1918. Two sons served in the Boer War, four in the Great War, and three in the present war. Surviving daughters are Mrs Wybrants Olphert (Wellington) and Mrs N. Bramson (Te Araroa).
