PALAU OPERATIONS
AMERICAN CASUALTIES OVER THREE HUNDRED WASHINGTON, , (Rec. 11 p.m.) Oct._6. The United States forces on Peleliu continue to apply heavy pressure against the remaining pocket of enemy resistance on Bloody Nose Ridge, states a Pacific Fleet communique. Several defensive positions and caves have been cleaned out. Mopping-up continues on Angaur. During the southern Palau operations from September 25 to October 5, the American casualties were 336 killed, 1707 wounded, and eight missing.
