Mr and Mrs T. Baxter, of Awarua Plains, Woodend, have received cabled advice that their son Reg., who is overseas, has gained his “ wings ” with the rank of sergeant.
Mr and Mrs R. A. Sinclair, of 20 Ken mure road, Roslyn, formerly of Maori Hill, have received word that their son, Flight Sergeant Peter Stewart Sinclair, R.A.F., has been promoted to the rank of warrant officer.
Passengers who left for the north by the airliner yesterday were Mr G. E. Kay and Mr C.. J. Boyle for Christchurch, Mr R. C. Love, Mrs M.‘Fenton, Miss E. Page, Mrs V. F. Galvin, Mr E. Perryman, and L.A.C. J. Simpson for Wellington, Mr T. M. Dunlop and Miss N. Gilkison for Auckland. Passengers who arrived by the afternoon plane were: Mr J. S. Ross, L.A.C. J. Stewart, and Mrs J. H. Scanlon from Auckland, Mrs A. H. Webb, Mr Race, Mrs M. C. Brickell, Mrs W. Taylor, and Mr A. J. Smith from Wellington, Mr M. Angus and Mr J. D. Tait from Christchurch.
