CITY POLICE COURT

In the City, Police Court yesterday before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., Kathleen Lorraine Thomson, aged 19, was charged with failing to comply with a man-power direction to accept employment at Ross and Glendining’s boot factory. The prosecution was brought by the National Service Department (Mr A. J. Haub) and the defendant was represented by Mr F. M. Hanan. The case was originally heard on Monday, and an adjournment was granted in order that further inquiries might be made regarding the contentions for the defence. When the hearing was resumed yesterday the magistrate was advised that the parties had discussed the matters in issue with the chairman of the Industrial Man-power Appeal Committee and that the defendant had agreed to commence work on Monday The case was adjourned sine die, a condition being that the department might bring the charge again on three days’ notice.
