QUEENSTOWN RESORT
Sir,—l would suggest to the Queenstown Borough officials the desirability of remedying matters pertaining to the motor camping grounds. A fireplace is built at the foot of an oak tree of large dimensions with the result that the branches in places have been killed, and it is only a matter of time before the tree itself will be destroyed. This shows lamentable carelessness on the part of those in charge of the grounds, and should be rectified before the holiday reason opens. In fact, properly constructed fireplaces placed where no damage would be done to the fine oaks are very necessary, as many of us .who camp on the grounds are interested in the trees. Another matter that should have immediate attention, too, is that the signboards should be erected showing the way to Queenstown Hill. At one place there is a board, the lettering of which has disappeared long ago. An extra signboard should be erected inside the gateway pointing the way to the track that leads to the summit of the hill. Drainage of the track in places and the cutting back of overhanging scrub would be appreciated by tourists who do this walk.— I am. etc.. Visitor.
