HATRED OF DICTATORS
SPAIN AND PORTUGAL RISING TIDE OF OPPOSITION NEW YORK, Oct. 4. Theorising opposition to Franco has communicated itself to Portugal, thereby increasing the threat to Salazar’s dictatorship, says the Washington correspondent of the. Christian Science Monitor. Well-informed circles
believe there is an excellent chance that the expected uprising against Franco will be J matched by a like revolt against Salazar. The armies of both Spain and Portugal have been affected by the deepening hatred of dictators. Some believe that the first revolt move might come from the generals. It is thought likely that the next few weeks will see important occurrences in Spain. Franco may make some empty democratic gesture, but failing this, the army may eliminate him and make the gesture itself.
